MSW, LCSWA
Carmelia graduated from North Carolina Central University with her Master of Social Work. She joins our team with experience as an Outpatient Therapist and a Care Management, Discharge Planner. Carmelia has helped clients with low self-esteem, family troubles, addiction, and suicidal ideation. She works with individuals of all ages, enjoys running groups, and providing individual therapy sessions.
The idea of creating change inspired Carmelia to pursue a career in counseling. After recognizing the significance of personal change, she developed a strong inclination to support others in their mental health journeys. It brings Carmelia joy to help clients understand and cope with thoughts, feelings and behaviors while encouraging personal development. Carmelia considers herself to be a lifelong learner which has contributed to her professional growth and ability to encourage healthy healing to clients.
Carmelia likes writing/journaling, spending time in nature, photography, meditating, dancing, listening to music, learning, exploring new things and cherishing moments with her loved ones.
Carmelia was drawn to A Little Counseling’s emphasis on imperfection, highlighting that individuals don’t need “to be perfect” they just have “to be real.” “A vast majority of us expect our healing journey to be perfect and at ALC, the clinicians reassure, motivate, and encourage clients to accept their flaws, imperfections, past traumas, and experiences. These are the things that make each person unique.” Carmelia is excited to help clients at ALC as they embark on their mental health journey, embracing all the challenges and opportunities that may arise along the way.
